"Estonian Extravaganza" 8 Days

Day 1 USA-Tallinn
Depart from the US with Finnair or SAS on the overnight flight to Tallinn.

Day 2 Tallinn
On arriving in Tallinn, Estonia's capital, you will be transferred to your hotel. (B)

Day 3 Tallinn
A half-day tour of this picturesque old city where whole districts dating back to the Middle Ages are still intact. We'll begin in the Old Town with its narrow streets and beautiful merchants' houses. From there we'll visit the city's ancient fortification walls, Town Hall, Dome Church, and the Guild Hall. This was built to celebrate Tallinn's membership in the Hanseatic League, a trading society since 1284. (B)

Day 4 Rocca Al Mare Open-Air Museum
This museum located only 4 miles from the center of Tallinn brings together examples of the rural architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries. Farmhouses, country pubs, windmills, and chapels will be on display and furnished according to period styles. We'll also be able to buy very fine Estonian handcrafts in the museum's well-priced shop. (B)

Day 5 Lahemaa National Park
At Lahemaa National Park we'll see several different types of landscapes: coastal lowlands, pine forests, limestone cliffs, stone fields, waterfalls, and rapids. We'll also get to see many fine examples of Estonia manorial architecture from the 18th and 19th centuries. (B)

Day 6 Island Of Saaremaa
We set off today for Saaremaa Island where we'll visit the Koguva Open-Air Museum. Among its many attractions are the Ermu windmill, Karja church, an ancient village and the greatest attraction of them all, a 2,500 year old meteorite crater at Lake Kaali. (B)

Day 7 Island Of Saaremaa
Today we'll explore the principle city of Saaremaa Island, Kuressare. Its attractions include the medieval Episcopal Castle and the Old Town with its many fine examples of baroque and neo-classical architecture dating from the 17th to the 19th centuries. Return to Tallinn. (B)

Day 8 Tallinn-USA
Transfer to the airport for the flight home. (B)
