POLOTSK, BELARUS BECOMES GEOGRAPHICAL CENTER OF EUROPE
Geographical Centre of Europe monument recently opened in Polotsk, Belarus, at 55°30′″N, 28°48′″E.
The Polotsk Regional Executive Council announced that the geodesists of the national unitary enterprise of aerospace methods in geodesy “Belaerokosmogeodesy” tried to find the centre of Europe using the cutting-edge software and came to the conclusion that it was situated right in Polotsk. The Russian scientists from the Central Institute of Geodesy, Air Photography and Cartography confirmed the calculations of their Belarusian counterparts and agreed with their methods of defining the borders of the Old World.
Now everyone who happens to be in Polotsk will be able to get a special certificate confirming that they have been right in the centre of Europe.
